COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Would you like to expand your church ministry to impact your community and laity? Let us introduce you to The Community Prayer Tent Ministry.
The Community Prayer Tent is a strategically placed tent allowing us to take God’s love outside the church walls. A prayer tent is a highly visible and welcoming place where anyone passing by can drive up and experience the love and hope of God through prayer. In our first year of ministry at First Methodist Conroe, we ministered to 157 drivers who came to our tent for prayer. The people we served were as diverse as the needs that drew them there.
Making prayer accessible through the ministry of a Community Prayer Tent offers the love of Jesus to anyone in need of support through any life circumstances. Prayer volunteers from your congregation have the opportunity to lead others to experience the hospitality, care, and presence of the Lord simply by pulling off the road! Those who come to the prayer tent are welcomed and accepted. They leave with hope having been cared and prayed for. Many report having a deep need met because they saw the ‘NEED PRAYER?’ signs, pulled up, and discovered people willing to listen and pray for them.
THE PRAYER TEAM
Praying men, and women from your congregation are equipped to encourage and uplift souls needing comfort, peace and healing only Christ can offer. They serve as representatives of the Lord showing hospitality to the community. This serving team draws close to God and one another as they witness God working through them. It is similar to a small class meeting being held each time they come together actively serving God, sharing experiences with those who come for prayer, and having spiritual discussions.
